Netflix released new stills of Kingdom: Ashin of the North.
Jun Ji Hyun will play Ashin, a mysterious woman who knows about the origin of the undead, which engulfed Joseon into darkness, and the secret behind the resurrection plant. Settled on the northern border of Joseon, she is a wildling who doesn’t belong anywhere and lives in contempt.
One day, in the middle of a forbidden forest which belongs to the perished army, she discovers the resurrection plant and a mural which tells its secret. However, soon she lost her entire family in a sudden ambush and is left alone. From then, she dreams of her family’s revenge and continues her painful life day by day.
Director Kim Sung Hun remarked, “When we took her first take, all of the staff on the set could understand how Jun Ji Hyun could have been a much-loved actress for 20 years.” Screenwriter Kim Eun Hee highly praised her and said, “Jun Ji Hyun is an actress who can express Ashin’s pain. I can’t think of any other actress who can play this role.”
Kingdom: Ashin of the North will premiere on July 23rd.
