Lee Yi Kyung has recently drawn attention after a new update on his activities surfaced.
Vietnamese singer and actress Hoang Yen Chibi recently shared a short video with Lee Yi Kyung on social media.
In the clip, the two pose closely together and smile at the camera, showing a friendly atmosphere from a promotional event for their film.
Lee Yi Kyung and Hoang Yen Chibi starred together in the Korean-Vietnamese co-production film Me Oi, Ve Nha, which was released in July.
The two were seen wearing matching T-shirts featuring the film’s title, showing off their playful chemistry. Lee Yi Kyung displayed his signature bright personality, similar to his appearances on variety shows, while Hoang Yen Chibi matched his energy with a natural and cheerful response.
In the film, Lee Yi Kyung plays Huy Hoang, a young man raised in Korea by his Vietnamese mother. Hoang Yen Chibi portrays Diem My, a Vietnamese singer chasing her dream in Korea.
The video has gained attention as it marks one of Lee Yi Kyung’s recent public appearances following several controversies that emerged over the past year.
In October last year, Lee Yi Kyung became involved in a personal controversy after an individual claiming to be a German woman, shared alleged private conversations involving the actor online.
Lee Yi Kyung’s agency, SANGYOUNG COMPANY, denied the allegations and announced plans to take legal action against the spread of false information and malicious rumors. The agency stated that it would pursue damages related to both direct and indirect losses caused by the claims.
Following the controversy, Lee Yi Kyung stepped down from some variety programs he had been appearing on.
In May this year, additional attention was drawn after reports of a tax investigation involving the actor surfaced. His agency explained that the issue stemmed from a difference in interpretation between the company and tax authorities regarding business expense deductions.
The agency denied any intentional wrongdoing, stating that there was “absolutely no income concealment or tax evasion through fraudulent means.” It added that the company respected the tax authorities’ findings and would pay any additional taxes required through the proper procedures.
The agency also apologized for causing concern and said it would strengthen its accounting and tax management systems to prevent similar issues in the future.
