V’s popularity in the Arab region has become a hot topic as Qatar fans celebrated his birthday, attracting the local media’s attention.

Qatar’s leading press, The Peninsular, reported in detail about the BTS craze and ARMY’s (the fandom) birthday support culture.
The Peninsular introduced BTS as South Korea’s boy band which is a Grammy-nominated and international sensation, and that the band has devoted fans.
Qatar’s ARMYs, consisting of fans from different nationalities and of different genders, have been supporting the group for four years and have recently prepared a legendary celebration for V’s birthday on the 30th of December.
It is Qatar’s first Korean bus birthday advertisement, and the bus travels from the Gimpo International Airport to Gwanak-gu in Seoul from the 27th of December, 2020 to January 2021. On the bus is the phrase “V – Everland From Qatar ARMYs” with a photo of V.
The Peninsular daily also presented an interview with Qatar ARMY in which they said, “We take a lot of pride in the bus advertising project because small fan bases like us usually don’t carry out huge projects like this.” The project, named V-Everland, raised funds through cafe events and sales of souvenirs.
As such, fans plan and carry out these birthday advertisements for Korean idols, in places that no one imagined to be. They enjoy the grand celebration as one whole fandom which goes beyond borders and language barriers. This proves the international scale of V’s popularity.
