Former Jewelry member Seo In Young has denied rumors that she assaulted IU.
Seo In Young’s YouTube channel released a new video titled “The real reason Baek Ji Young disliked Seo In Young revealed for the first time” on October 7th.
In the video, Seo In Young visited Baek Ji Young at her home. The two had previously revealed that they had fallen out but have since reconciled.
Seo In Young said, “When you first came back, I saw you with Jewelry. What really bothered me was that you seemed to favor Lyn and Park Jung Ah. If I remember correctly, there was some misunderstanding between you and a younger friend of mine. You’re someone who really values loyalty, aren’t you?”
Baek Ji Young explained that the misunderstanding started with a friend she is still close to. “She misunderstood In Young and didn’t like her, so I didn’t like you either,” she said, jokingly smacking herself on the head.
They also talked about an incident involving a dressing room. Baek Ji Young recalled sharing a dressing room with LYn when Seo In Young came to see her.
“I mistakenly told you, ‘It’s too loud. Seo In Young, be quiet,’” she recalled. “Looking back, you were actually very kind and easygoing. But we had never really talked before. You were so popular back then, and I thought you were a little too full of yourself. I’m sorry.”
Seo In Young then recalled another experience with a senior singer. “It wasn’t just you. There was also a singer from an earlier-generation group who called me ‘Princess’ behind my back,” she said.
Baek Ji Young added, “You and I both had strong personalities. Looking back, you never said anything harsh to anyone, and neither did I, except for that one time with you.”
The conversation then turned to a long-running rumor involving IU.
“I heard rumors that I hit IU,” Seo In Young said. “Why would I hit her? There were even rumors that I took her to the bathroom and beat her. We weren’t even close.”
Baek Ji Young jokingly replied, “Maybe you hit her because you weren’t close,” which made them both laugh.
The rumor dates back to 2010, when Seo In Young and IU appeared together on SBS’s Heroes. In 2011, IU addressed the rumor on MBC’s Radio Star, saying that she had never been dragged to a bathroom or assaulted.
Seo In Young also denied the rumor in 2013 on MBC’s Mooreuppak, stating that she had never called IU to the bathroom or hit her.
