Nam Ji Hyun and Kim Jae Young are teaming up for TVING’s new romantic comedy Make My Heart Race (literal title).
The series announced its cast lineup on September 9th, with Nam and Kim taking the lead roles in a story about two people with completely different attitudes toward love who unexpectedly become entangled.
Nam plays Gong Yeon Soo, a marketer with deeply traditional views on relationships. Raised in a conservative family that places strong importance on tradition and etiquette, she believes love should come first.
Kim stars as Dokgo Dal, the CEO of an adult products startup who sees physical intimacy as just as important as emotional connection.
“The two couldn’t be more different in the way they view love,” the production team said. “They unexpectedly become connected through an advertiser-agency relationship.”
The production also released photos from the cast’s table read, where Nam and Kim reportedly showed off their playful back-and-forth chemistry.
“There were plenty of interesting moments during the read where even the room naturally split into different opinions whenever the characters’ values clashed,” the production team said.
They added, “We hope viewers will follow the changes these two go through as they begin by getting frustrated because they can’t understand each other, only to eventually reconsider their own standards.”
Make My Heart Race premieres on TVING on October 15th.
