Kim Soo Hyun’s recent whereabouts are drawing attention as multiple controversies continue to unfold.
On May 3rd, a video posted to the YouTube channel run by former entertainment reporter Lee Jin Ho claimed the actor was recently spotted in Seoul’s Seongsu neighborhood. According to the report, an acquaintance who saw Kim Soo Hyun described him as looking “very gaunt” and visibly worn down.
Lee added that the actor is currently facing significant financial strain due to ongoing legal disputes, alleging that “just breathing costs tens of millions of won (roughly tens of thousands of USD) each month.” He further claimed the situation would be overwhelming even for a top-earning actor, though these statements have not been independently verified.
The update comes amid a series of legal battles involving Kim Soo Hyun. Earlier last year, the YouTube channel Hoverlab cited the family of the late actress Kim Sae Ron, alleging the two had been in a relationship for several years, beginning when she was a minor. In May, the family announced they had filed a complaint against Kim Soo Hyun under child welfare law violations.
Kim Soo Hyun has acknowledged that he and Kim Sae Ron were in a relationship, but maintains that it began only after she reached adulthood. He has since filed complaints against the channel’s operator and the bereaved family, citing defamation and other legal violations.
Separately, the actor is also involved in a dispute with an advertising partner. One cosmetics brand has filed a damages lawsuit worth approximately 2.8 billion won (around 1.9 million USD), arguing that he violated contractual obligations tied to maintaining his public image. Kim Soo Hyun’s side disputes this, stating that unverified allegations cannot serve as grounds for contract termination.
The court is expected to weigh the outcome of the defamation-related cases before making a final ruling on the advertising dispute.
