Song Ji Hyo is taking a firm stand against growing allegations that her father is involved in a “debt-too” controversy.
On the 21st, her agency Nexus ENM stated, “A recent email containing legally questionable claims regarding Song Ji Hyo’s father was sent to the company. Below is our official legal position in response to the spread of false information,” sharing a statement from their legal representatives.
According to law firm Namsan, the agency’s legal counsel, “The sender alleged that a company operated by the actress’s father was in a state of debt default and attached materials, including a draft banner reading, ‘Parent of a Famous Celebrity—Runs a Famous Ferry Business!'”
The firm added, “Sending such banner mock-ups goes far beyond a simple inquiry. It can be interpreted as an attempt to display the banner in front of Nexus ENM to damage Song Ji Hyo’s reputation and disrupt the company’s normal business operations. This constitutes potentially criminal behavior.”
The statement continued, “The courts have made it clear that even if someone claims they’re exercising their rights, any threat that goes beyond what society considers reasonable—or isn’t an appropriate means to achieve a legitimate goal—can be punished.” They added, “Based on this standard, Nexus ENM believes that sending these materials directly to the agency—not even to Song Ji Hyo’s father—crosses the line of what’s socially acceptable and amounts to a criminal act.”
Nexus ENM emphasized its zero-tolerance stance: “We will not overlook any form of intimidation, pressure, or wrongful conduct that infringes on our actor’s reputation, dignity, or the company’s normal business activity,” concluding, “Nexus ENM will continue to take firm action against any malicious behavior that harms our actor’s activities.”
