Choi Hyun Wook is teaming up with director Park Yoo Young, who recently directed Ms. Incognito, for a new series.

According to YTN Star, Choi Hyun Wook has been cast as the male lead in the upcoming drama At the River Where Evil Swarms (literal translation). The project marks the latest collaboration with Director Park, known for the 2023 drama The Kidnapping Day.

The drama is an occult thriller centered on the poignant love story between two unlikely characters: a shamaness who desperately yearns for an ordinary life and a man who has endured a series of extremely challenging experiences. Choi Hyun Wook will play Yoo Myung Woo, the man who has faced these hardships.

Choi Hyun Wook made his debut in 2019 and quickly gained widespread recognition for his roles in popular dramas like Taxi Driver and Racket Boys, which earned him the Best New Actor award at the 2021 SBS Drama Awards.

Since then, he has solidified his reputation as a versatile actor, delivering standout performances in both emotional dramas and intense action sequences. His impressive resume includes fan-favorite series like Twenty-Five Twenty-One, Weak Hero Class 1, Twinkling Watermelon, and High Cookie.

The new series is produced by AStory, the acclaimed production powerhouse behind global hits like Netflix’s Kingdom Seasons 1 and 2, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, and Big Mouth.

Details regarding the broadcast channel and release schedule are still under discussion.
