Song Joong Ki is transforming for his role in new JTBC drama My Youth, and new photos give fans a first glimpse of his character, Seon Woo Hae, who is sure to stir up memories of a first love. The series is set to premiere on Friday, September 5th.

My Youth tells the emotional story of Seon Woo Hae (Song Joong Ki), who is starting his ordinary life later than most, and Seong Je Yeon (Chun Woo Hee), the woman who unexpectedly shakes up his peaceful world.

The drama promises to warm hearts with laughter and deeply moving stories as it follows their reunion, exploring how reconnecting with a first love from a difficult past can help them rediscover parts of themselves they had long forgotten. The series is helmed by director Lee Sang Yeop of Yumi’s Cells and A Familiar Wife, and writer Park Si Hyun of Run On.

Seon Woo Hae is surrounded by flowers in the newly released photos. A former child star whose fame fizzled out too soon, he now lives a quiet life as a florist. For Seon Woo Hae, simple routines like visiting the early morning flower market are a source of peace. His gentle smile in the photos hints at a deeper story of healing from past wounds. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with his first love from his teenage years, Seong Je Yeon. Adding to the intrigue, Seon Woo Hae is also secretly a novelist living under a hidden name.

Song Joong Ki shared why he was drawn to the project, saying, “I felt an immediate warmth as soon as I read the script. I loved that it was such a heartwarming, human story, something I hadn’t done in a while. Unlike my previous roles with strong fantasy elements, Seon Woo Hae is firmly grounded in reality, and that really resonated with me.”
