Ji Sung, Park Hee Soon and Won Jin Ah have joined forces for Judge Lee Han Young (literal title).
The show follows a corrupt judge who, after living as a pawn of a mega law firm, suddenly finds himself sent back 10 years into the past. With a second chance in hand, he vows to make new choices and take down the very power structures he once served.
Marking his first MBC project in a decade since Kill Me, Heal Me—which earned him the MBC Drama Grand Prize—Ji Sung returns in the title role of Lee Han Young. After marrying into a powerful law firm family, he uses his bench to grant favors in exchange for private gains. Just as he begins questioning the life he’s built, he’s thrown back a decade.
Park Hee Soon plays Kang Shin Jin, the chief criminal judge at Seoul Central District Court and a key figure in a shadow government led by a former president. Ruthless in his wielding of legal power and political connections, he creates intense opposition with Lee Han Young, setting up an intense showdown.
Won Jin Ah takes on the role of prosecutor Kim Jin Ah, who entered the field determined to bring down corporate mogul Jang Tae Sik of the S Group. She teams up with Han Young, believing in their shared goal. However, seeing the people Lee Han Young associates with, she finds herself walking a tightrope between trust and distrust.
The production team shared high hopes for the show. “Ji Sung returns to MBC after 10 years. He’ll attempt a new transformation, appearing before viewers in a completely different light. The psychological chess match that Ji Sung delivers while perfectly embodying his character will add to the drama’s entertainment value.” They continued, “Park Hee Soon and Won Jin Ah, who possess solid acting skills and commanding presence, will create breathless tension and catharsis as they become entangled with Ji Sung, so please show interest and anticipation.”
Meanwhile, Judge Lee Han Young has begun its first filming and is set to premiere in the second half of this year.
