Kang Mina is joining the cast of Netflix’s highly anticipated live-action series Solo Leveling.
According to SPOTVNEWS on May 13th, the actress has officially signed on for the upcoming drama and was also reportedly spotted attending a recent ceremony held to wish the production success.
Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, Solo Leveling follows Sung Jinwoo, an E-rank hunter considered the weakest among those tasked with protecting the world from monsters beyond mysterious gates. After a near-death experience awakens new powers within him, he begins leveling up into the world’s strongest hunter.
The original webtoon became a global sensation on KakaoPage, surpassing 14.3 billion cumulative views worldwide. Its anime adaptation also made history by sweeping nine major categories at a major international animation awards ceremony.
As excitement builds for the live-action adaptation, Byeon Woo Seok was previously confirmed to play lead character Sung Jinwoo, while Han So Hee is set to star as Cha Hae In. Attention is now turning to what role Kang Mina will take on in the series.
Kang Mina has continued building her acting career with fantasy projects, including last year’s drama Twelve. She also recently drew attention for her villain performance in the Netflix series If Wishes Could Kill.
Up next, the actress will also appear in tvN’s new drama See You at Work Tomorrow! premiering June 13th.
Solo Leveling will be directed by Lee Hae Jun and Kim Byung Seo, with production handled by Kakao Entertainment and Sanai Pictures. The series will stream on Netflix.
