Weekly TV Top10: ‘Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born,’ ‘The Judge from Hell’ and ‘Doubt’ Continue to Rise in Popularity

Drama Ranking for 3rd Week of October

tvN’s Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born has held onto the top spot for the second consecutive week, with ratings surpassing 12% in its second week. While the series is praised as a well-rounded female-led drama, it’s also facing backlash for toning down its queer themes, with some viewers expressing disappointment that mainstream appeal was prioritized.

Coming in second is SBS’s The Judge from Hell, bolstered by Park Shin Hye’s solid performance and the chemistry between her and co-star Kim Jae Young. MBC’s Doubt climbed to third, despite being overshadowed by The Judge from Hell in ratings. However, it’s earned widespread acclaim as “the best drama of the year,” thanks to its availability on Netflix, where it continues to gain momentum. ENA’s Dear Hyeri placed fourth, captivating audiences with the evolving dynamics between Shin Hye Sun, Lee Jin Wook, and Kang Hoon.

Non-Drama Ranking for 3rd Week of October

Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars remains a fan favorite, taking the top spot in the combined rankings for both drama and non-drama categories, even after its finale. The show’s stars Kwon Sung Joon (aka Naples Matfia) and Edward Lee recently appeared on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, keeping the buzz alive. On the other hand, Coupang Play’s SNL Korea 6 sparked controversy with a skit satirizing Hani’s appearance at the national assembly hearing and Han Kang’s Nobel Prize win, leading to widespread criticism.
