Jang Ki Yong is in talks to join the upcoming Korea-Japan co-production From the Fatherland, With Love.
According to a report on October 13th, the actor is considering an offer to star in the new series, which is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
The drama is based on Ryu Murakami’s 2005 novel of the same name, which won both the Noma Literary Prize and the Mainichi Publishing Culture Award.
The story centers on a crisis that unfolds after North Korean special forces occupy a Japanese island. The novel previously drew interest from Korean filmmaker Kwak Kyung Taek, who pursued a film adaptation after its publication in Korea in 2006.
If Jang accepts the role, From the Fatherland, With Love would join his growing slate of upcoming projects. He is already set to star in MBC’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Wolves in Suits, scheduled to air next year.
The Korea-Japan series is expected to begin filming in Japan early next year.
