YG Entertainment has shared an update on preparations for its upcoming boy and girl groups.
The agency posted a new update titled “FROM YG” on its official blog on October 14th. In the post, YG chief producer Yang Hyun Suk discussed the progress of the previously announced five-member boy group and four-member girl group. The girl group is currently being developed under the working name “Next Monster.”
“These are very important artists who will help shape YG’s future alongside TREASURE and BABYMONSTER, so I’m putting my full effort into preparing for both groups,” Yang said.
Both groups are expected to record demo tracks by the end of this year. Their debut schedules will be set once their title tracks are finalized. YG has not yet announced which group will debut first or when either group will make its debut.

Yang also shared updates on upcoming releases from YG’s existing artists.
BABYMONSTER will release their digital single “DESERVE” on October 23rd and are preparing to release a new album early next year. Yang described “DESERVE” as a slow song with more intense energy than any of the group’s previous releases.
TREASURE will release their digital single “SHOCK” on November 2nd. Yang said the group is making its biggest change in musical direction yet, with the new track featuring a powerful hip-hop sound. The group previously released their hip-hop-focused mini-album NEW WAV in June.
With both new groups in development, YG is preparing to expand its artist lineup. As BABYMONSTER and TREASURE continue releasing music through the second half of this year and into next year, the two upcoming groups are expected to play a key role in the agency’s future plans.
Yang also said he plans to share more updates by the end of the year.
