Kim Soo Hyun will testify in the criminal trial of Kim Se Eui, head of the YouTube channel Hover Lab, who is accused of spreading false claims about the actor.
The Seoul Central District Court will hear Kim Soo Hyun’s testimony on November 11 at 2 PM during a trial involving Kim Se Eui’s alleged violations of the Information and Communications Network Act, including defamation, according to legal sources on November 6th.
The hearing will be the first formal trial following the conclusion of pretrial proceedings.
Kim Se Eui was indicted in June after allegedly making false claims during YouTube streams and press conferences last year. He claimed that the late actress Kim Sae Ron had dated Kim Soo Hyun for approximately six years, beginning when she was a minor. He also allegedly claimed that pressure from Kim Soo Hyun’s side to repay debts contributed to her death.
Kim Se Eui is also accused of using generative AI to manipulate Kim Sae Ron’s voice and fabricate false statements that damaged Kim Soo Hyun’s reputation.
Kim Se Eui has denied all charges in previous court hearings.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun has filed for an injunction against Kim Se Eui, seeking to have the related YouTube videos removed and prevent their further publication.
