YG Entertainment is preparing to launch its first new boy group in six years.
The label shared a video titled “BABYMONSTER, TREASURE AND UPCOMING ROOKIES” on its official blog on April 30th.
During the announcement, Executive Producer Yang Hyun Suk outlined the company’s major projects for the second half of the year.
“In my last interview, I mentioned plans to launch a new boy group this fall,” Yang Hyun Suk stated. He continued, “We are currently planning to introduce the group in September. Many will be curious about the lineup, and I can confirm there will be five members.”
This five-member roster marks a distinct change from the larger scale of TREASURE, YG’s last boy group. The smaller lineup suggests the creation of a “complete group” designed to highlight the individual skills and unique charms of each member. Yang also hinted at more to come, stating, “We will sequentially unveil the new projects and rookies that YG is currently planning.”
This announcement follows a busy year for YG, which has already seen global promotions for BABYMONSTER and TREASURE, along with news of BIGBANG’s 20th-anniversary world tour. With these established acts and the debut of a new generation of artists, 2026 is shaping up to be a major turning point for the agency.
