Bekuh Boom, an American singer-songwriter who co-wrote many of BLACKPINK‘s hit songs, has come forward with allegations that she was pressured by her former label to undergo an abortion during her time working in Korea.

Bekuh Boom recently posted a series of lengthy videos and comments on her TikTok account. In these posts, she says she was taken advantage of for years, starting around age 18, with the promise of a record deal. She also says she was verbally abused and that the label pressured her to have an abortion when she became pregnant.

While Bekuh Boom did not explicitly name the entity she is accusing, industry insiders widely believe her allegations are directed at YG Entertainment. This is due to her long-standing collaborative relationship with YG Entertainment since she moved to Korea in 2012.

She also reacted sharply toward BLACKPINK, with whom she previously worked. Referring to the time she worked on their song “Typa Girl”, she claimed she was seriously disrespected and suggested that none of the members stood up for her and that they were all involved. She also showed her disappointment by liking a fan comment suggesting that the members should have defended her.

Bekuh Boom’s continuous revelations have intensified a debate over the truth on international social media platforms and online communities. Some netizens have criticized YG Entertainment and the BLACKPINK members, calling the label’s alleged misconduct shocking.

On the other hand, some say these are just Bekuh Boom’s one-sided claims and that there’s no clear evidence to support them. Others also question her credibility, suggesting she may be turning a personal issue—possibly related to past song credit disputes—into a story of abuse.

Born in 1994, Bekuh Boom has carved out a unique career in K-pop. She first entered the K-pop market in 2014 as a co-writer for Taeyang’s mega-hit song “Eyes, Nose, Lips.” Subsequently, she was instrumental in creating numerous core hit songs for BLACKPINK, including their debut track “BOOMBAYAH,” “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “Kill This Love.”

She has also collaborated with artists such as WINNER and Jeon Somi. Her profile was raised again in August of last year when the music IP specialist company Beyond Music acquired her copyright catalog of 33 songs, including those by BLACKPINK.
