ENA’s Doctor on the Edge continued its upward climb this week, setting a new series ratings record with its latest episode.

According to Nielsen Korea, Episode 4 earned a nationwide rating of 5.2%, marking the drama’s highest viewership to date. The series has steadily gained momentum since its premiere without posting a single ratings decline.

The episode deepened the growing connection between Do Ji Ui (played by Lee Jae Wook) and Yook Ha Ri (Shin Ye Eun).

After learning more about the island residents and reflecting on his approach as a doctor, Ji Ui continued to open up emotionally. Ha Ri, meanwhile, found herself leaning on him as she struggled with concerns over her grandmother’s health.

Romantic tension also began to build between the pair. When rumors spread linking Ha Ri to Hyun Chi Yeon (Hong Min Gi), Ji Ui couldn’t hide his jealousy. Later, he appeared to reveal his feelings, asking Ha Ri, “Why not? Why won’t you? I’m a doctor too.”

Just as their relationship seemed poised to take a step forward, an emergency call changed everything.

Despite rough seas and a storm warning, Ji Ui boarded an emergency vessel and successfully treated a patient, overcoming his long-standing fear of the ocean in the process.

But the victory was short-lived. In the episode’s final moments, Ji Ui suddenly fell overboard and was swept away by powerful waves. Ha Ri witnessed the accident and screamed in horror, leaving viewers with a dramatic cliffhanger and raising questions about whether Ji Ui will survive.

The shocking ending helped propel Doctor on the Edge to its strongest ratings yet as anticipation builds for the next episode.
