Lim Ji Yeon brings her fierce Joseon villainess role to life in My Royal Nemesis.
SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama My Royal Nemesis is a high-stakes romantic comedy with a unique twist set to premiere on May 8th.
The story follows Shin Seo Ri (played by Lim Ji Yeon), a struggling actress who becomes possessed by the soul of Kang Dan Shim, a notorious villainess from the Joseon era. Alongside her, Cha Se Gye (Heo Nam Joon), a ruthless chaebol heir and embodiment of capitalist greed, plays a key role in this intense drama. The show is a collaboration between director Han Tae Seop, known for Stove League and Cheer Up, and up-and-coming writer Kang Hyun Joo.
Kang Dan Shim, brought to life by Lim Ji Yeon, is a legendary figure who rises from humble beginnings to become a royal consort, all while becoming infamous for her brutal revenge. Known for her ruthless response to mockery and betrayal, Dan Shim becomes one of the most feared figures in Joseon. Stills from the show depict her in a dramatic scene where she receives a poisoned cup of wine, which has already sparked widespread interest.

My Royal Nemesis premieres on May 8th at 9:50 PM, following the currently airing drama Phantom Lawyer.
