Kim Hee Seon made headlines with a cheeky remark about a rival show while promoting her new TV Chosun drama No Next Life.

During the drama’s press conference on November 10th, Kim was asked about the Monday–Tuesday competition—specifically tvN’s Nice to Not Meet You, starring Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon. The question referenced Lee Jung Jae’s recent promise that if the series premiere exceeded a 3% viewership rating, he would hold a fan signing in Myeongdong dressed as a Joseon prince from his previous role in The Face Reader.

When asked if her team had any similar pledge in mind, Kim Hee Seon quipped, “If our ratings surpass 5%, I’ll do a free hug event and send out coffee trucks.” She then playfully added, “’Nice to Not Meet You’ is really something. But honestly—can you relate to the romance between those two?” drawing laughter from the room.

The lighthearted jab comes as Nice to Not Meet You continues to spark debate over the 18-year age difference between its lead actors. Some viewers have criticized the pairing, saying the relationship dynamic feels more like “father and daughter” than lovers, which has affected immersion for some audiences.

According to Nielsen Korea on November 11th, No Next Life premiered to a nationwide cable viewership rating of 1.940%, while episode 3 of Nice to Not Meet You recorded 4.242%.
