Kim Seon Ho is proving that his star power remains unshakable.
The actor took to Instagram on March 30th to share his surprise and gratitude, posting a screenshot of the Netflix rankings with a simple caption: “Wow.”
His 2023 neo-noir action film, The Childe, has staged an unexpected resurgence, climbing to the number 3 spot on the “Top 10 Movies” list on Netflix in South Korea.
Originally released in June 2023, The Childe follows Marco (played by Kang Tae Joo), a struggling boxer working the underground circuits in the Philippines to pay for his mother’s medical bills. His life descends into a violent cat-and-mouse game when a mysterious and lethal assassin known only as “The Childe” (Kim Seon Ho) begins hunting him.
Critics praised Kim’s performance for its eerie blend of aristocratic charm and sociopathic detachment—a departure from his usual “boy next door” roles in romantic comedies like Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.
This streaming success marks a significant turning point for Kim. Earlier this year, he faced public scrutiny regarding his family’s business dealings. In February, his agency moved quickly to clarify rumors of tax evasion, explaining that a corporation founded in early 2024 was intended for theater production and acting activities, not financial misconduct. The agency confirmed the entity is currently being dissolved to avoid further misunderstanding.
Despite the headlines, Kim has remained focused on his craft, recently returning to the stage in the play INTERVAL and maintaining a steady presence on social media.
The momentum continues with his upcoming project, the tvN drama May the Congressman Protect You, based on a hit web novel. Maeil Business Newspaper reported on March 30th that Ahn Eun Jin will make a high-profile cameo.
Ahn is set to play Gu Seung Hee, a character described as pivotal to the plot despite being a cameo role. Her involvement is seen as a strong show of support for Kim as he fully reintegrates into the A-list drama circuit
