BTSJin opened up about why his name doesn’t appear in the credits of the group’s latest album.

On March 20th, BTS went live on the fan platform Weverse for a “Studio Note Arirang” broadcast, where they shared behind-the-scenes stories from their newly released fifth full-length album, Arirang.

The album features a total of 14 tracks, including the title song “Swim.” Members RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jungkook, V, and Jimin all participated in writing and composing various tracks, earning credits across the album. Jin, however, is notably absent from the credits for all 14 songs.

Addressing this, RM said, “If Jin’s tour had wrapped up a bit earlier, he would’ve been able to participate more. It’s a shame.”

V added, “There was time we could’ve worked together, but he wasn’t in the best condition and was continuously on tour,” while Jungkook commented, “Didn’t he have to head somewhere else before us too?”—pointing to Jin’s packed schedule.

RM and Jimin also expressed their appreciation, telling Jin, “He really worked hard,” and “Thanks to him holding things down for the team, we were able to release this album.”

Jungkook showed his support by patting Jin on the shoulder, while Jin responded with a smile, saying, “I’m just happy there are so many great songs.”

As the eldest member of BTS, Jin was the first to complete his mandatory military service, officially discharged in June 2024. Following his return, he released his first solo album Happy and launched a solo world tour titled “Run Seokjin,” connecting with fans around the globe.

He also stayed active through a variety of appearances, including Netflix’s variety show Kian’s Bizarre B&B, along with multiple variety shows and YouTube content, helping fill the group’s hiatus during military service.

Due to overlapping tour schedules, Jin joined BTS’ song camp in the United States last July later than the other members, which ultimately prevented him from participating in the songwriting and production process.

Fan reactions:

Following the video’s release, the fandom has seen a surge of mixed reactions regarding the scheduling and credit decisions for the new project.

Many fans expressed frustration, particularly highlighting Jin’s hard work immediately following his military discharge.

One fan wrote, “It feels wrong that he was left out of the credits after carrying so much on his own right after being discharged.” Others added, “Could they not have adjusted the Song Camp schedule to include him?” and, “Was it impossible to wait until the tour ended? It’s disappointing that they had to rush to fill the members’ absence instead of waiting for a full group effort.”

Other segments of the fandom urged caution and respect for the group’s internal process. These fans emphasized that such decisions were made privately among the members themselves.

One comment read, “This was a decision the members discussed and finalized among themselves; there’s no need for outsiders to interfere.” Another noted, “Regardless of our speculations, we know the BTS members share a deep bond and get along well—we should trust their choice.”
