Keum Sae Rok recently shared an emotional story about how deeply she immersed herself in her role while filming the drama The Interest of Love.
The actress appeared on Yoo Yeon Seok’s YouTube channel “Yoobari Talkbari,” where the two stars revisited behind-the-scenes moments from the series.
Keum Sae Rok revealed that she threw herself completely into the role of Park Mi Kyung, who has a one-sided love for Yoo Yeon Seok’s character Ha Sang Soo. “I thought that if I could truly love Sang Soo, I would be able to do this drama well,” she said, reflecting on how seriously she approached the role.
Because Ha Sang Soo’s character is focused entirely on Ahn Soo Young, played by Moon Ga Young, Keum Sae Rok said the dynamic sometimes made her feel unexpectedly isolated even off camera. “His eyes were only on Soo Young the whole time, and I started to feel a little lonely during filming.”
She added with a laugh, “I even thought, ‘You could look at me a little too. Do you really have to look only at Soo Young like that?'”

The actress also revealed that she intentionally kept some distance from Yoo Yeon Seok on set to stay in character. Even when he told her she could call him “oppa,” she continued to address him formally as “sunbae” to maintain the emotional tension of her character’s unrequited love.
Yoo Yeon Seok praised her dedication. “I could really feel how sincere Sae Rok was,” he said. “Thanks to that, I had such a great experience working on the drama.”
Keum Sae Rok described the project as one she “put her life into,” adding that the intense emotions she experienced at the time became a valuable experience for her as an actor.
The actress recently returned to the screen in the Disney+ drama Bloody Flower, which premiered February 4th, where she takes on a completely different role as a sharp and calculating prosecutor.
