The Korean horror film Salmokji (literal title) has confirmed its theatrical release date for April 8th, and released its first trailer teasing the terror that awaits beneath dark, still waters.

Salmokji follows a filming crew that heads to a reservoir after an unidentified figure appears in an online road-view image. What begins as a reshoot quickly turns into a nightmare when the team encounters something lurking deep below the water’s surface. The story centers on the terror that unfolds as what was never filmed before slowly reveals itself.

Directed by Lee Sang Min, Salmokji is his first solo feature-length film. He previously worked in the horror genre with short films Hamjinabi and Honor Guard, as well as the upcoming theatrical release App the Horror.

The first trailer opens with on-road media producer Su In (played by Kim Hye Yoon) saying, “It’s Salmokji.” Se Jeong (Jang Da A), who runs a horror exploration channel, adds, “From long before, people have said it’s a place where you can meet the dead.” From there, the tension escalates as an unknown voice emerges from a ghost box and eerie sounds echo through the forest.

The trailer shows Gyeong Tae (Kim Young Sung) being dragged away by an unseen force, Gyeong Jun (Oh Dong Min) running toward the reservoir, and Gyo Sik (Kim Jun Han) stacking stone towers. Seong Bin (Yoon Jae Chan) watches in fear, while Gi Tae (Lee Jong Won) follows Su In to Salmokji and becomes trapped in the same terror. As the group tries to escape, their navigation system malfunctions, looping them back to the same place.

The trailer ends with a chilling warning: “No one comes back alive from there.”

Salmokji has also confirmed screenings in premium formats ,including CGV SCREENX and 4DX, offering an immersive horror experience across multiple viewing formats. The movie opens in theaters on April 8th.
