Single’s Inferno 5 breakout star Mina Sue Choi is drawing renewed attention after an old interview resurfaced in which she revealed she once weighed 72kg.
In a September 2022 interview with YOURVIBES, Choi shared that her weight increased to 72kg while she was living in the U.S., citing frequent meals of greasy food. “I gained weight really fast back then,” she said, adding that she later committed herself to losing weight and dropped 15kg in just two months.
She explained that the transformation gave her a boost of confidence. “After I succeeded with the diet, I felt confident enough to challenge myself even more, and that’s what led me to compete in Miss Korea,” she said.
Following the resurfaced interview, online reactions poured in, with viewers commenting, “I want to know her diet,” “At 174cm, 70kg would still look great,” and “How did she do that before weight-loss injections were even a thing?”
Choi has been gaining attention on Single’s Inferno 5 for her blunt remarks and unapologetic attitude, earning her the label of a standout “villain” character. Her unpredictable comments and complicated dynamics with multiple male contestants have repeatedly stirred tension, even catching the panelists off guard.
Moments such as her awkward Paradise date with Song Seung Il—where she appeared distracted—and a scene where panelist Hong Jin Kyung snapped, “Cut it out,” after Choi asked whether she could leave the island with two men, quickly went viral. Her past appearance on the reality show The Penthouse has also resurfaced, fueling her reputation as a seasoned reality-TV instigator.
However, episode 10 marked a noticeable shift. Choi openly declared her feelings for Sung Hun and, for the first time, showed a willingness to wait for just one person. Panelist Lee Da Hee commented, “It feels like we’re watching Mina Sue grow.”
Whether Mina Sue Choi will fully break away from her villain image or continue to surprise viewers will be revealed when episodes 11 and 12 drop at 5 PM today KST.
