Han So Hee is getting candid about the scrutiny that followed her last year.

On January 16th, the actress sat for an interview about her upcoming film Project Y. The crime drama centers on Mi Seon (Han So Hee) and Do Kyung (Jeon Jong Seo), two women barely getting by in a glittering city who hit rock bottom and decide to steal illegal cash and gold bars in a last-ditch attempt to change their lives. Han plays Mi Seon, a florist who doubles as a top hostess in the nightlife district.

Over the past year, Han found herself at the center of multiple online controversies. In 2024, dating rumors involving Ryu Jun Yeol escalated after public exchanges between Han and his former partner, Hyeri. Months later, Han faced further backlash after it was revealed she had “liked” a post by Reform Party leader Lee Jun Seok, sparking debate over her political views. Her agency later clarified the action was unintentional.

Looking back, Han said, “I tried to take in as many opinions as I could. Everyone sees things differently, and I knew there were areas where I had fallen short. I treated it as feedback.” She added, “I spent a lot of time reflecting on myself. I asked what kind of thinking I had, and why I was receiving so much attention. These days, I try to look at myself more objectively.”

“Criticism is also attention, and it is the closest kind of feedback you can get,” she continued. “This is something I have to carry. If I cannot handle it, being an actress would be difficult.”

Despite the noise, Han says acting remains deeply meaningful to her. “The best part of this job is getting to live someone else’s life,” she said. “Before I debuted, I was not especially happy, but playing different characters has been a good experience for me.”

“There is no end to learning,” she added. “I am still growing, but since this is the path I chose, I want to keep going until people can say I am truly good at it.”

Project Y opens in theaters on January 21st.
