Junho has been cast as the new lead in Veteran 3, the latest installment of director Ryoo Seung Wan’s blockbuster crime-action series.
According to industry sources on November 11th, Junho will headline Veteran 3, marking his first appearance in the long-running franchise.
The Veteran series follows the relentless detective Seo Do Cheol (Hwang Jung Min), a no-nonsense cop who never lets a criminal slip away. The first film, released in 2015, became a cultural phenomenon, drawing over 13.41 million moviegoers and solidifying its place as one of Korea’s biggest box-office hits. Last year’s Veteran 2—English title I, the Executioner—also defied post-pandemic challenges, attracting 7.52 million viewers nationwide.
The sequel teased a continuation through its end-credit scene, revealing that Park Sun Woo (Jung Hae In), who had been captured, escaped custody while being transferred—hinting at new conflicts to come. With Junho joining the cast, anticipation is high for what role he will play alongside Hwang Jung Min and how their dynamic will unfold.
Junho is currently starring in the tvN drama Typhoon Family, which has been posting strong ratings, peaking at 9.4 percent nationwide (according to Nielsen Korea). Following his upcoming Netflix series Cashero, the actor is now set to expand his hot streak to the big screen with Veteran 3, further cementing his title as one of Korea’s most bankable stars.
