
Model Kim Sung Chan, best known for his appearance on Korea’s Next Top Model, has passed away at the age of 35 after a two-year battle with cancer.
SPOTV News reported on November 7th that Kim Sung Chan died on November 6th. His older brother confirmed the news, stating, “My younger brother has left our side after a cancer battle spanning over two years. We kindly ask for your warm condolences and words of comfort.”
The news was especially heartbreaking for fans who had followed his journey on social media. Despite undergoing difficult chemotherapy, Kim Sung Chan maintained a strong, positive attitude, posting hopeful messages like “I won’t lose” and “I am being reborn.” Earlier this year, he had told fans, “As you can see, I am recovering well. Let’s always be happy.”
Kim Sung Chan debuted in 2013 and was a staple at Seoul Fashion Week. He gained widespread popularity in 2014 as a contestant on Korea’s Next Top Model Cycle 5: Guys & Girls, where he was beloved for his confident, cheerful personality and funny antics that often made the judges laugh. He later made a successful debut at Milan Fashion Week in 2019 and was active in major ad campaigns and on his own YouTube channel.

Following the tragic news, fellow celebrities expressed their grief. No Eul of the group Rainbow wrote, “Sung Chan, I hope you are no longer in pain and can rest peacefully now.” Model Joo Won Dae and actor Lee Jae Sung also expressed their profound sorrow, stating, “May he rest in peace.”
His wake is being held at the Seoul Medical Center Funeral Hall, with the funeral procession scheduled for the morning of November 8th.
