Yeo Jin Goo has officially announced his plans to enlist in the military. He shared the news personally with his fans in a handwritten letter during his 20th-anniversary fan meeting in Taipei on October 12th.

During the event, Yeo Jin Goo spent quality time with his fans, playing games like jump rope and hula hoop. “I came here hoping to give you a special time,” he reportedly said. “But instead, I’m the one who’s having a special time. Thank you all so much.”

He revealed his upcoming enlistment at the end of the show. “My heart is filled with gratitude, excitement, and a bit of sadness as I write this,” he wrote. “The time has come for me to step away for a little while to have new experiences.” He explained that the current Asia tour would be his final activity before enlisting. “Every moment on this tour—seeing your faces, making eye contact, and sharing smiles—has been incredibly precious to me.”

The announcement came as a surprise, as Yeo Jin Goo had previously stated in an interview for his recent film Hijack 1917 that his enlistment plans were “not yet definitively set.”

He left his fans with a heartfelt request and a promise. “The time I can laugh with all of you before my enlistment is precious,” he said. “I will return stronger and more mature. If you miss me, rewatch 30 dramas and 20 movies.”

To close the event, he sang the classic song “The Moon Represents My Heart,” telling his fans, “When we miss each other, let’s remember today’s beautiful memories.” In response, the audience reportedly shouted back, “We love you.”
