Jung Sung Il, best known for his role in the hit Netflix series The Glory, is divorcing his wife after nine years of marriage.

The actor’s agency, XYZ Studio, confirmed the news on October 14th. “Jung Sung Il and his wife have decided to end their marriage,” the statement read. “This was a mutual agreement, and we ask that you refrain from speculation. Though their legal relationship is over, they will continue to support each other and remain dedicated to co-parenting their child.”

The couple, who got married in 2016 and have one son together, have finalized their divorce amicably.

Jung Sung Il shared the unique story of his relationship on the talk show You Quiz on the Block. He revealed that he and his non-celebrity wife had met, dated, and eventually broken up. Years later, he discovered that she had stayed in touch with his mother and even taken her to the hospital when she was ill. Deeply moved by her kindness, they reconnected after nearly eight years apart and eventually got married.

After debuting in 2002, Jung Sung Il worked for years in theater and minor film roles before his breakout performance as the conflicted husband Ha Do Yeong in the 2022 global hit The Glory. He has since landed leading roles in upcoming projects, including the Disney Plus series Trigger and  film Murderer Report.
