Disney Plus’ latest original series Tempest has taken the platform by storm, soaring to No. 2 worldwide on FlixPatrol’s Disney Plus Top 10 TV shows chart as of September 14th.
The series, directed by Kim Hee Won and Heo Myung Haeng, launched its first three episodes on September 10th and immediately sparked explosive global buzz. Tempest currently sits at No. 1 in six markets—Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and Turkey—while also breaking into the Top 10 in North America and Europe, ranking 7th in New Zealand, 9th in Canada, and 10th in Croatia.
Billed as Disney Plus’ biggest global project of 2025, Tempest is quickly proving its worldwide appeal, with momentum spreading across Asia Pacific and into Western markets.

Audiences have been effusive in their praise, citing the adrenaline-fueled action, suspenseful pacing, and magnetic performances from stars Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won. Comments flooded social media: “Every moment feels like their peak. And they can act, too,” “Didn’t let me down, the production team is the best,” and “The ending theme was so good I had to look it up—of course it was Jung Jae Il!”
International critics have also taken note. Roger Ebert’s site praised it as “a storm well worth getting caught up in,” while one IMDB user highlighted its “multi-layered characters, intense storytelling, and realistic action sequences.”
With global viewers calling it “thrilling,” “intense,” and “deeply compelling,” Tempest is not only living up to its hype but also setting the stage as one of Disney Plus’ most significant international hits.
