Former EXO member Tao is tying the knot with former SM Entertainment trainee Xu Yiyang this October—and the celebration may be broadcast live for fans.
According to Sina Entertainment on August 11th, Tao revealed during a recent variety show taping that he and Xu will hold their wedding in October.
The couple has been planning what local outlets are calling the “wedding of the century” for the past six months. The guest list will include numerous celebrities and more than 100 fans, with special seating set aside just for them. They’re also considering livestreaming the event so even more fans can join in virtually.
Naturally, attention is on whether fellow former EXO member Luhan—still close friends with Tao—will attend.
Tao debuted with EXO in 2012 but left the group in 2015, later filing a contract termination lawsuit against SM Entertainment. The court ruled in SM’s favor, and Tao has since been active in Chinese-speaking markets. Xu Yiyang first entered the spotlight in 2016 as part of SM Rookies, a pre-debut training team, and is now active as both a singer and actress in China.
Rumors of a romance between Tao and Xu Yiyang began in 2020, with the pair confirming their relationship last year after four years of speculation. In December, they registered their marriage, officially becoming husband and wife.
The couple has also faced persistent speculation about a possible secret pregnancy and childbirth. Reports surfaced in August last year claiming Xu had been seen undergoing prenatal checkups at an OB-GYN clinic in the U.S. Later in December, she was spotted in a baby goods store. Tao fueled the rumors further during a livestream when he mentioned a child, only to quickly change the subject. In June, paparazzi footage appeared to show Xu’s mother with a nanny holding a baby, reigniting the “secret birth” buzz.
Tao and Xu Yiyang have remained tight-lipped, declining to comment on the rumors. For now, all eyes are on October’s ceremony—and whether fans around the globe will get a front-row seat.
