Hani opened up about her emotional journey following the Yang Jae Woong controversy and her postponed wedding.
Appearing on the July 14th episode of MBN’s Dr. Oh’s Stay, Hani shared her innermost thoughts on fame, shame, and rediscovering who she is. “After everything that’s happened recently, I’ve realized life doesn’t always go the way you plan,” she said, opening up gently. Though she wasn’t direct, her words hinted at the emotional weight of postponing their wedding.
During a group chat with other participants, Hani reflected on her early years in the spotlight. “When I was younger, I just wanted to be famous. But I’ve learned it’s not all good,” she said. “Back when I had to take public transportation again, I couldn’t even look people in the eye. I kept thinking, ‘What if everyone thinks I’ve failed? What if they’re laughing at me?’”
Dr. Oh Eun Young gently offered guidance. “We all make mistakes. No one’s perfect. When you’ve done something wrong, you bow your head and apologize. But in other moments, maybe it’s worth asking, ‘Why did I start this? What really matters to me?’”
Hani spoke about how ending her contract with the agency left her feeling unmoored. “I started so young. When it all ended, I realized I didn’t know anything about the world. I had no idea who I was. That’s when I started searching for myself.”
That journey included meditation, temple stays, and even a trip to India. “One monk told me, ‘Stop trying to give people what you want.’ I just broke down in tears. After that, I went to India. We all washed dishes and cleaned toilets together.”
Hani described her appearance on the show as a personal declaration: “Coming on this show feels like an announcement. Like I’m saying, ‘I’m going to find the courage to be hated.'”
