It has been reported that friends of the late actress Kim Sae Ron are preparing a statement following actor Kim Soo Hyun’s press conference.
On April 1st, TV Chosun’s program Case File 24 covered Kim Soo Hyun’s March 31st press conference.
Quoting a lawyer representing Kim Sae Ron’s bereaved family, Case File 24 reported, “We had hoped for a heartfelt apology from Kim Soo Hyun, but there was no apology directed toward the family,” expressing disappointment.
The lawyer further stated, “At least eight friends of the deceased, who knew she had been in a relationship with Kim Soo Hyun since her minor years, are frustrated after watching his press conference and are now drafting a statement.” The lawyer added that they might release it depending on the situation.
The lawyer also remarked, “It would have been better if he had at least acknowledged something like, ‘There were good feelings during her minor years, but I remember our proper relationship starting after she became an adult.’ I don’t understand why he’s denying everything.”
Kim Sae Ron passed away on February 16th. Her family continues to insist that Kim Soo Hyun acknowledge their romantic relationship and issue an official apology. In the meantime, they have been exposing details about his private life. This has led to ongoing controversy, including disruptions to Kim Soo Hyun’s acting projects and advertising schedules.
In response, Kim Soo Hyun recently gave a press conference to address the matter directly. There, he asserted, “I did not date her when she was a minor; our relationship began after she became an adult,” adding, “I can’t call a lie the truth just because of pressure. I will prove it.”
Kim Soo Hyun’s side has filed a defamation lawsuit under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection against Kim Sae Ron’s family, an unidentified aunt, and the operator of the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute. Additionally, they have launched a damages lawsuit worth 12 billion won ($8.2 million).
