DJ Koo, aka Koo Jun Yup, has agreed to take on monthly loan repayments of 100 million Taiwanese dollars (approx. 3 million USD) to keep the newlywed home he shared with his late wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu.
According to Taiwanese media outlet ET Today on the 6th, DJ Koo has agreed to repay the loan on their Taipei mansion valued at 460 million Taiwanese dollars (14 million USD), which he shared with Barbie Hsu during her lifetime.
Additionally, another media outlet revealed that DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband Wang Xiaofei have completed negotiations regarding the distribution of Barbie Hsu’s assets through their lawyers. The media outlet observed that “as the only adult heir to Barbie Hsu’s estate, DJ Koo will take full responsibility in order to preserve their newlywed home.”
Hsu owned not only the newlywed home she shared with DJ Koo but also a property near the National Art Museum. The market value of this property is estimated to exceed 600 million Taiwanese dollars. Under Taiwanese civil law, Hsu’s estate can be divided with DJ Koo and her two children each receiving one-third. However, much attention has been focused on the situation due to Wang Xiaofei being the legal guardian of the two minor children.
Although a month has passed since Barbie Hsu’s passing, DJ Koo continues to mourn her deeply. Close associates revealed that whenever DJ Koo and Barbie Hsu’s younger sister, Dee Hsu, talk, they cannot stop crying, adding, “DJ Koo’s eyes are severely swollen from constant crying. The swelling is so bad that treatment isn’t working, and he hasn’t been eating properly, resulting in significant weight loss.”
