Choi Woo Shik is opening up about filming kiss scenes with his co-star Park Bo Young in Netflix’s latest series Melo Movie, directed by Oh Chung Hwan.
In an interview with iMBC Entertainment on the 17th, the actor shared insights about working on the romance drama, which follows young dreamers navigating love while overcoming personal trauma. Choi portrays Go Gyeom, an actor-turned-critic in the 10-episode series.
Speaking about his chemistry with Park, Choi revealed, “This was my first time working with someone exactly my age, and it was a lot of fun and comfortable. Usually, I’m quite conscious of character dynamics on set, but this time, I could engage in conversations very naturally.”
The actor credited his co-star for guidance during intimate scenes: “Park Bo Young helped me a lot with the sentiments I wasn’t familiar with. For example, during the electric pole kiss scene in episode one, she advised me on head positioning. The three of us—the director, Park Bo Young, and I—had lengthy discussions behind the monitor. I learned a lot during those moments.”
“After filming the electric pole kiss scene, everyone on set, including the staff, transformed into critics and started evaluating the performance,” Choi shared with a shy smile. “(The kiss) seemed quite mature, even to me. I was very satisfied with how it turned out.”

Choi couldn’t help but gush about his leading lady, commenting, “Park Bo Young is just so lovely whether she’s acting or not. Working with her helped me understand why people adore her so much. Like my character Go Gyeom, I felt butterflies from the very beginning of filming.”
Discussing his character’s puppy-like charm, Choi explained, “The playful aspects were necessary for the show’s early atmosphere. When developing Go Gyeom’s character, we aimed for that puppyish image. The playful, people-loving nature is similar to my own personality. The writer (Lee Na Eun) knew me from our previous project, so I think these traits naturally became part of Go Gyeom’s character.”
Melo Movie is currently streaming all episodes on Netflix.
