The live-action adaptation of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint has officially announced its release for July 2025, along with a teaser trailer and a new poster.
The teaser starts with a tense scene where a subway train suddenly stops in the middle of Dongho Bridge. Kim Dokja, the main character, quickly realizes that what’s happening around him is exactly like the novel he was reading. As his ordinary world turns into chaos, he finds himself in a battle for survival. The trailer also introduces key characters played by Lee Min Ho, Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho, Nana and Jisoo.

The newly released poster further builds anticipation, capturing a pivotal moment between Kim Dokja and Yoo Joong Hyuk.
However, the excitement was met with mixed reactions from fans, who had strong opinions about certain changes in the adaptation. One major complaint was about the character Lee Ji Hye (played by Ji Soo). In the teaser, she is seen using a gun, even though she fights with a sword after inheriting the skills of Admiral Yi Sun Sin in the original novel. Some fans felt that changing this detail took away an important part of her character. Here are some of the comments viewers left after watching the trailer:

- “Did Jisoo really have a gun? How did they adapt it in a way that Admiral Yi Sun Sin’s skills involve a gun?”
- “The colors feel so dull… It’s so different from what I imagined while reading the novel. So disappointing.”
- “Did Lee Min Ho gain weight while filming…? This isn’t what I expected.”
- “Maybe it’s because I haven’t read the original, but it actually looks fun to me.”
- “Ah… Ah……… I think I just need to see this as a completely different story.”
In response to the growing discussion, Realies Pictures’ CEO Won Dong Yeon addressed fan concerns directly on social media.
“We shared the script with the original author and explained the necessary changes before filming. The author understood everything,” he said. He also clarified that Yoo Joong Hyuk, one of the main characters, will use both a sword and a gun in the movie. “The goblins appear too. We didn’t copy the novel word for word, but we kept the original message, characters and world intact. We hope fans will support the film.”
He also shared a different version of the poster, where Yoo Joong Hyuk is holding a sword instead of a gun. “Whenever a novel is turned into a movie, some changes have to be made,” he added. “When we made Along with the Gods, we changed a lot too, but both the author and fans understood in the end. Even now, we have a great relationship with the author. To all Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint fans—once you see the film, you’ll understand. We truly love the original work.”
