As Jessi faces police questioning over the recent assault of a fan by her companion, new allegations have emerged from a woman who claims she was assaulted by the singer and her friends in 2013.
On October 16th, Jessi appeared at Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station, accompanied by her lawyer, to address the investigation regarding an incident where a minor fan was attacked by one of her companions after asking for a photo. Jessi is being questioned as a suspect in the case.
The rapper expressed her desire to see justice served, stating, “I hope they find the person who did it quickly, and I hope they are punished.” She also stressed that she had only met the attacker for the first time that night and apologized to the victim.
While this case is still under investigation, another allegation has resurfaced from a woman who spoke to JTBC’s Crime Chief, claiming that she was assaulted by Jessi and her friends at an Itaewon club in 2013. The accuser, a Korean-American who immigrated to the U.S. at the age of two, shared that she had come to Korea in 2010 to experience life in her home country and was planning to return to the U.S. in May 2013 when the incident occurred.
According to the accuser, she encountered Jessi and three of her friends at a club, where she was attacked without provocation. “I bumped into them in the bathroom, and I even let them go ahead of me. But they picked a fight and started beating me up,” she claimed. “Jessi and her friends hit me and tried to shove my face into a toilet. They took my bag and said they’d give it back if I got on my knees.”
At the time, Jessi denied these accusations, stating that she had merely tried to break up a fight between her friends and the accuser and had never laid a hand on her. Reports at the time suggested the victim had retracted her claims and acknowledged that Jessi wasn’t involved in the assault, but the accuser now insists that’s not true.
“I never admitted that Jessi didn’t hit me. She absolutely did,” she said, explaining that she dropped the case because she was preparing to leave for the U.S. and couldn’t afford to stay in Korea for the trial, which would have taken about a year. The resurfaced accusations have led the accuser to comment on the current fan assault case, drawing parallels to her own experience. “Jessi’s side claims the attacker left the country. That’s exactly what she said back then, too,” she noted.
With both the recent fan assault case and the resurfaced 2013 allegations, Jessi finds herself at the center of the escalating controversy.
