Netflix’s upcoming series Mr. Plankton is officially set to premiere on November 8th. Directed by Hong Jong Chan of Juvenile Justice fame and penned by It’s Okay to Not Be Okay writer Jo Yong, the series brings together an exciting cast: Woo Do Hwan, Lee Yoo Mi, and Oh Jung Se.
Mr. Plankton is a romantic comedy about two unlucky souls—Hae Cho (Woo Do Hwan), a man burdened by bad luck and terminal news, and Jaemi (Lee Yoo Mi), who is struggling with unexpected life changes just before her wedding. Forced to accompany each other on Hae Cho’s final journey, the story takes viewers through a bittersweet adventure filled with love, healing, and humor.
The newly released teaser poster shows Hae Cho and Jae Mi walking side by side, with one wearing the top and the other the bottom of the same tracksuit, hinting at the unique dynamic between the two. The trailer begins with Hae Cho’s sudden diagnosis of a brain tumor and Jae Mi’s emotional breakdown after learning of her premature menopause.
In a surprising twist, Hae Cho shows up uninvited on Jae Mi’s wedding day, offering her a way out with the words, “What you want is to run away, not get married.” The appearance of her devoted fiancé, Eo Heung (Oh Jung Se), raises questions about the challenges ahead for the trio. The trailer also features Hae Cho’s poignant line, “Why does my life get interesting just as it’s about to end?” teasing an emotional yet light-hearted journey.
Director Hong Jong Chan, known for his previous hard-hitting drama, takes on a fresh tone with Mr. Plankton. “All the characters, including Hae Cho, Jae Mi, and Eo Heung, are incredibly charming,” Hong shared. “As viewers follow their whimsical adventure, they’ll find comfort and healing along the way.”
Mr. Plankton promises a quirky love story with an unconventional twist, and fans can catch it on Netflix starting November 8th.
