The gathering highlighted this year’s array of Korean films on Netflix and teased the diversity and artistry of the 2025 lineup. raising anticipation. Revelations revolves around a pastor who believes punishing the perpetrator of his son’s disappearance is divine revelation and a detective haunted by visions of her deceased sister, as they follow their beliefs. Directed by Yeon Sang Ho, known for creating the universe around series like Hellbound, the production has already sparked significant buzz. Yeon shared, “Actor Ryu Jun Yeol meticulously embodies every line, and Shin Hyun Bin approaches her role with serious dedication and immersion. We’ve strived to capture the genuine emotions of these two actors.”

Love Untangled

Love Untangled portrays a youth romance that unfolds in 1998 when nineteen-year-old Park Se Ri goes on a  hair-straightening mission to overcome her complex of frizzy hair before asking out her crush, entangling with transfer student Han Yoon Seok. Directed by Namkoong Sun, whose sensitive direction in works like Ten Months has been acclaimed, this film stars trendy young actors Gong Myoung, Shin Eun Soo, and more. Namkoong mentioned, “This film, filled with pure and joyful energy, aims to show that good things still exist in the world. We’ve cast actors who seem born to bring these bright and energetic characters to life.”

Good News

Good News (literal title) tells a suspenseful tale from 1970, where a group of individuals devises a daring plan to land a hijacked airplane. Directed by Byun Sung Hyun, who has helmed major projects like The Merciless and Kill Boksoon, this film presents an unpredictable story and fresh characters centered around an airplane rescue mission. Byun expressed his excitement about working with actor Sul Kyung Gu for the fourth time, saying, “Having first met in ‘The Merciless,’ where I wanted to straighten him out, I now have the desire to crumple him up.”

The Great Flood

The Great Flood is a sci-fi disaster blockbuster depicting the last day on Earth submerged by a great flood, where humanity’s last hope struggles for survival inside a flooded apartment. Directed by Kim Byung Woo, known for capturing extreme situations and vivid characters in The Terror Live and Take Point, the film features solid performances by Kim Da Mi and Park Hae Soo. Kim Byung Woo said, “The film isn’t just about the disaster itself. The goal was to tell a story that’s both complex and simple, using the disaster genre as a starting point. I’m excited to see how audiences will interpret it.”

Mantis

Mantis (literal title) is an action film about the world of contract killing, where top-tier killer “Mantis” returns from a long vacation to battle his old friend  and rival “Jae Yi” and a retired legendary killer “Dokgo” for the top spot. Directed and co-written by Lee Tae Sung and Byun Sung Hyun as a spinoff of the Netflix movie Kill Boksoon, the film shares a universe with the contract-killing industry, garnering high interest. Lee stated, “There are mentions of Mantis and retired Dokgo in ‘Kill Boksoon.’ Though Mantis didn’t appear in that film, he was a character significant enough to inspire a sequel.”

Lost in Starlight

Lost in Starlight is an animated film about the long-distance romance between astronaut Nan Young and musician Jay, set at the farthest ends of the universe. Anticipated as Netflix’s first Korean animated feature, the film has been invited to prestigious film festivals including Sundance. Directed by Han Ji Won, who also wrote the screenplay, the production pondered how to incorporate the inspirations of actors Kim Tae Ri and Hong Kyung into their animated expressions and performances. Han said, “We requested their acting for important scenes through animatics, resulting in explosively realistic results.”

Wall to Wall

Wall to Wall is an unpredictable thriller about Woo Sung, who finally buys his own 84-square-meter apartment only to suffer from mysterious noise from neighbors. Directed by Kim Tae Joon, known for the real-life thriller Unlocked, the film vividly portrays the tension between neighbors in the uniform space of an apartment. Kim Tae Joon remarked, “Given the realistic subject matter, I felt it was crucial to authentically portray the standardized structures and finishes of apartment spaces. I’ve made a concerted effort to capture the true tone of these spaces while expressing them in the most vibrant and varied way possible.”
