Netflix Confirms Rom-Com Production Starring Gong Myung, Shin Eun Soo and More

Netflix has officially greenlit the nostalgic romance film Love Untangled, bringing back memories of first love with a charming cast lineup.

Love Untangled, set in 1998, tells the story of 19-year-old Park Se Ri, who is on a mission to straighten her curly hair before making the biggest confession of her life. Things take a turn when she crosses paths with a mysterious new transfer student, Han Yoon Seok. This youthful romance promises to deliver love, friendship, and heartwarming moments, with a cast led by Gong Myung, Shin Eun Soo, Cha Woo Min, Yoon Sang Hyun, and Kang Mina.

Lovers of the Red Sky actor Gong Myung takes on the role of Han Yoon Seok, a transfer student from Seoul to Busan. A year older than his classmates and having opted out of the college entrance exam, he’s got a mysterious past. As he helps Se Ri with her mission to win over her crush, he keeps a close eye on her, making unexpected moves that are sure to win over the audience. Twinkling Watermelon star Shin Eun Soo plays Park Se Ri, a high school girl who’s never managed to ask a guy out, thanks to her wild, curly hair. Her character’s mix of determination and quirky charm is set to be one of the film’s standout features.

Weak Hero Class 1 actor Cha Woo Min takes on the role of Kim Hyun, the most popular boy in school and the object of Se Ri’s affections, while Under the Queen’s Umbrella cast Yoon Sang Hyun will portray Se Ri’s classmate and friend Baek Seong Rae, who helps her execute her grand confession plan. Rounding out the cast is Welcome to Samdal-ri actress Kang Mina, who will play Go In Jeong, Se Ri’s rival, but also the one to share the secrets of straight hair.

Directed by Namkoong Sun, who won the Grand Prize at the 2024 Jeonju International Film Festival for Time to Be Strong, Love Untangled promises to deliver a sweet snapshot of youthful innocence in the late 90s.
