Italian gymnast Elisa Iorio has been catching everyone’s eye at the 2024 Paris Olympics, not just for her skills but also for a surprising Korean tattoo on her back. The tattoo, which says “Love yourself” in Korean, has sparked lively discussion on social media.
Iorio has made it clear that her tattoo is a tribute to the popular K-pop group BTS, even using the same phrase as a caption on her Instagram. In one post, she made a heart with her hands against a sunset and wrote “borahae,” a Korean phrase often used by BTS fans that means “I purple you.”
Looking at her social media, it’s clear that Iorio is a fan of BTS. She also often posts on “UAREMYHOPE,” a fan account for J-Hope, suggesting he might be her favorite member. However, her Instagram also features photos of Jungkook, Jin, Jimin, RM, and group pictures of all the members.
The phrase “borahae” became popular after BTS member V started using it. It means “I purple you” and conveys a message of lasting love and trust, as purple is the last color of the rainbow, symbolizing enduring affection.
