Filming romantic scenes can be tough for actors. From passionate kisses to full-on nudity, these moments require a lot of trust and professionalism between the actors and crew. Let’s take a look at what some actors have shared about their experiences filming intimate scenes.
Kim Ji Hoon
Kim Ji Hoon shared his experience filming the nude scenes for Netflix’s Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area on Jang Sung Kyu’s YouTube show. When the show first aired, Kim Ji Hoon surprised many viewers by appearing nude in several scenes.
Recalling the experience, he said, “The scenes were more intense than in the original series, so we put a lot of effort into recreating them. We came fully prepared and finished shooting quickly.” Jang Sung Kyu asked about the process, “Isn’t it called ‘socking’? What do you use to cover yourself?” Kim Ji Hoon explained, “We use something like a panty liner and tape it around the lower part. We do it ourselves, no one else does it for us.” Addressing concerns about physical arousal during such scenes, Kim Ji Hoon added, “There are many technical aspects to consider while filming, making it nearly impossible to feel any physical changes.”
Lee Joo Yeon
Lee Joo Yeon shared how the bed scene with Jo In Sung was filmed for the movie The King. In the film, her character acts as a catalyst for Jo In Sung’s character to give in to his desires. Unlike her typically pure and beautiful image, her character is involved in drugs and multiple sexual relationships, even appearing in a scandalous private video.
Discussing the filming process, she revealed, “We actually filmed separately.” She also mentioned in a previous interview with Newsen that she drank a little champagne to relax before filming the intense scenes. She explained, “Since the role involved some nudity, I was very worried. I had many meetings with the director. The scenes were supposed to be even more intense, but the director toned them down a lot. He reassured me that the scenes wouldn’t be too explicit. I had a lot of concerns, but when I watched the movie, I thought it turned out better than I expected,” she said with a smile.
Song Seung Heon
Song Seung Heon discussed his steamy love scene with Lim Ji Yeon on MBC’s variety show Radio Star, where he appeared alongside Lee Si Eon, Oh Yeon Seo, and Jang Gyu Ri. Reflecting on the intimate scenes in the movie Obsessed, he explained, “Since it’s acting, there’s no room for personal feelings. The mood on set isn’t as romantic as you might think. The audience might watch with bated breath, but with so many staff members around, it’s hard to get swept away in the moment.”
He also mentioned that Obsessed is experiencing a resurgence in popularity. “That was actually Lim Ji Yeon’s debut movie. It’s great to see it climbing the charts again after the success of The Glory,” he said with pride. He pointed out a connection, saying, “Her co-star in The Glory, Song Hye Kyo, also worked with me in Autumn in My Heart. Good things happen to my co-stars.”

Son Suk Ku
Son Suk Ku showcased his wit and charm in the latest episode of YouTube’s “Zzanbro,” appearing alongside actors Kim Sung Cheol, Kim Dong Hwi, and Hong Kyung. The star-studded cast discussed their latest film, Comment Army, directed by Ahn Gooc Jin.
While talking about his nude scene in Nothing Serious, Son Suk Ku shared, “There’s a scene where I expose my butt in front of Jeon Jong Seo. The production team offered a body double since it was just a backshot, but I chose to do it myself. Not out of confidence, but because I wanted to be honest. I felt it would be a betrayal to rise in the gay popularity charts with someone else’s butt. Even if I fall short, I wanted to do it on my own merit.”

Lee Joon
Lee Joon got hilariously honest during his guest MC appearance on the April 14th episode of SBS’s My Little Old Boy. When Shin Dong Yup brought up a rumor, saying, “Lee Joon, I heard you said you took your clothes off ‘to get famous’?” Lee Joon chuckled and admitted, “Actually, there wasn’t a shirtless scene in my latest project, but I convinced the director to add one and film it. It wasn’t in the script originally, but I just… pushed for it.”
Shin Dong Yup playfully teased him, “You’re always looking for an excuse to take your shirt off, aren’t you?” Lee Joon laughed again and explained, “There was a scene where I got tied up and beaten. Normally, actors wear protective gear under their clothes. But for some reason, I told the director, ‘I want to do it shirtless!’ He was like, ‘Are you sure about that?’ Let’s just say I immediately regretted that decision after filming.”
Ra Mi Ran
Ra Mi Ran appeared on Salon Drip 2 on August 15, 2023, and recounted a challenging experience from filming her first movie, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. She shared, “It was my first movie, and I didn’t know anyone. The first scene was shot at a bathhouse.” She continued, “I was undressed. When they cut during filming, the staff usually comes over and covers you with a blanket. But no one came to me.” She added, “I couldn’t get up and get out of the water,” revealing the surprising details of the situation.
Ra Mi Ran went on to say, “Then the head of the makeup team said, ‘Can someone bring her a blanket?’ But I felt so miserable. I ended up crying. The next scene was me crying and looking back at Geum Ja (played by Lee Young Ae).” She added, “When I looked back at Lee Young Ae, I was already sobbing. If I had tried to cry, I might not have been able to because I was nervous about my first shoot. But the situation was set up perfectly, and now I am very grateful for it,” explaining how an unplanned situation led to an outstanding performance.
Song Joong Ki and Choi Sung Eun
Netflix film My Name Is Loh Kiwan has sparked conversation, particularly around its romantic elements. Song Joong Ki, the film’s lead actor, addressed viewer reactions to the love story. He said, “It seems like many people who enjoyed the original novel didn’t like the setting of Kiwan falling in love with Mari since she wasn’t in the original. I understand completely as that was why I refused the role in the first place. But I hope that those who initially disliked the film will change their minds over time.”
Meanwhile, his co-star Choi Sung Eun shared her experience filming a bed scene with the beloved star. She said, “The scenes are more intense in the script. The finished product in the film has a beautiful atmosphere, but it felt more intense during filming.” She continued, “I heard that this was also Song Joong Ki’s first bed scene, and it was my first time filming such a scene as well. I wasn’t particularly nervous about it, but I had a fear of doing something I’d never done before. The filming was done quickly on set, and everything went perfectly well.”
EXID’s Hani
EXID’s Hani appeared on MBC’s talk show Radio Star and discussed her experience filming a bed scene for the 2021 drama Hit the Spot. During the 2023 July 19th episode, Hani was joined by fellow guests Kang Joo Eun, Sunmi and Fabien and shared her memories of working on the drama. She explained, “I was nominated for the Best New Actress award in the drama category at the Blue Dragon Series Awards for my role in the show. The drama itself carries a message of women pursuing freedom in their sexual satisfaction. In order to express the bed scene more beautifully, we even had a choreographer on set. I felt a lot of pressure at first, but I worked hard to do a good job.”
Han So Hee
Han So Hee, the star of the Netflix drama My Name, previously made headlines for her remarks on the bed scene in the show. In a media interview promoting My Name, Han So Hee had stated that the bed scene with Ahn Bo Hyun was “decided during filming.” This statement sparked online speculation that Han So Hee had not consented to the scene and that it was abruptly decided on set without her prior knowledge. In response to these rumors, Han So Hee’s agency clarified that the scene was “ultimately decided upon with the consent of the actress and the production team.”
