BLACKPINK’s Jisoo departed for New York via Incheon Airport on May 3rd, sparking massive anticipation for her debut at the Met Gala.
Often dubbed the “Oscars of Fashion,” this prestigious event takes place annually on the first Monday of May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s gala features the theme “Costume Art” with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art,” marking the first time the celebration will be held at the newly opened Condé Nast Galleries.
Korean stars are set to have a major presence at the event this year. While her bandmates Jennie, Rosé and Lisa have attended in the past, this marks the first time Jisoo will walk the famous red carpet. Fans are eagerly waiting to see what custom Dior creation she will wear as a global ambassador for the brand. Social media is already buzzing, with fan accounts like @BLACKPINKGLOBAL sharing that “Jisoo has departed for New York to attend the Met Gala,” while @pinksviral noted that “Blackpink at the Met Gala is going to be epic.”
Jisoo is joined by several other high-profile Korean celebrities this year.

Ahn Hyo Seop confirmed his attendance in partnership with Valentino, making him the first Korean actor to attend the gala in 11 years. BLACKPINK’s Lisa will also make history as the first K-pop artist to serve on the host committee. With both Lisa and Jisoo confirmed, rumors are swirling that Jennie and Rosé might also appear to complete a full group reunion.

Additionally, Ningning and Karina from aespa were spotted departing for the event. The red carpet live stream begins May 4th at 6 PM ET on Vogue’s YouTube channel, featuring hosts Emma Chamberlain, Ashley Graham, La La Anthony and Cara Delevingne.
