After their noteworthy collaboration in Troll Factory, Hong Kyung and Kim Dong Hwi are set to dazzle audiences once again in Concrete Market, slated for release on Paramount Plus later this year.

Concrete Market, arranged as a seven-episode saga, is also making its way to viewers in Korea through the OTT platform TVING, finalizing discussions for a broadcast schedule and streaming platform that had previously been undecided.

The series, directed by Hong Ki Won and produced by Climax Studio, unfolds in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. It centers around an apartment complex that withstands the disaster and becomes a hub for bartering among survivors. The project, which commenced filming on November 14th, 2021, is part of the so-called “Concrete Universe” along with the webtoon Pleasant Bullying, the movie Concrete Utopia (2023), Badland Hunters (2024), and the dramas Concrete Market (2024) and Pleasant Outcast (literal title, TBD).

The anticipation is high for how Concrete Market will continue the universe established by Concrete Utopia and Badland Hunters.

The cast alongside Hong Kyung and Kim Dong Hwi is equally remarkable. Lee Jae In takes on the role of Hee Ro, who navigates crises with cool-headed determination. Jung Man Sik shines as Sang Yong, the de facto ruler of the market, while Yu Su Bin steps into the role of Chul Min, Sang Yong’s right-hand man.
