Bechdel Day 2026 has announced this year’s “Bechdelian” honorees in its series category, recognizing creators who have advanced gender equality and cultural diversity in Korean content.
The festival named Aema director Lee Hae Young, You and Everything Else writer Song Hye Jin and actress Kim Go Eun, along with Honour producers Choi Han Gyeol, Park Jin Hyung and Son Jae Sung.
Kim Go Eun was honored for her performances in Yumi’s Cells 3, You and Everything Else and The Price of Confession. JoongAng Ilbo reporter Na Won Jung called her “K-content’s devoted daughter,” saying, “She has pushed further by expanding the range of characters a single actor can take on.”
Na added that Kim’s continued transformations are particularly meaningful because “her challenges ultimately contribute to the growth of Korean dramas and female-driven narratives.”
Lee received the directing honor for Aema. Movement CEO Jin Myung Hyun praised the six-part series for its production design, cinematography and performances, saying its “energy and vitality, lyricism and humor clearly demonstrate the strengths Lee Hae Young possesses as a creator.”
Song was recognized for writing You and Everything Else. Chung-Ang University professor Kim Min Jung called it “a new high point for Korean female narratives,” praising the series for portraying women as active subjects through ordinary characters and everyday events.

Producers Choi, Park and Son were honored for Honour, which follows female attorneys representing women who have experienced violence and sexual crimes. Writer Choi Ji Eun praised the project’s timely premise, as well as its casting of Lee Na Young, Jung Eun Chae and Lee Chung Ah and its creative team.
This year’s series category considered 102 dramas released from June 2025 through May 2026 across broadcast, cable, streaming and web platforms.
Based on American cartoonist Alison Bechdel’s Bechdel Test, Bechdel Day uses seven expanded criteria adapted to the Korean content industry. Bechdel Day 2026 will be held August 29th and 30th at Yeonnamjang in Seoul.
