In a realm where the camera captures more than just memories, Joo Won embarks on an otherworldly journey in Midnight Photo Studio, offering a glimpse into his day filled with ghostly encounters. This Genie TV original delves into the eerie yet fascinating world of a photo studio catering exclusively to the deceased, where Joo Won, portraying the grumpy yet talented photographer Seo Ki Joo, promises to take the “best shots” for those on their final journey.

Seo Ki Joo, the seventh-generation photographer of a family-run studio for the dead, unable to leave this world due to resolved stories, finds himself at the heart of this uncanny narrative. Using his mystical camera, he aids these spirits by capturing their essence, easing their burdens, and helping them find peace.

Despite his increasingly irritable demeanor from dealing with a variety of ghostly patrons, including the occasional troublesome spirit, Ki Joo’s sincerity shines through with every shot he takes. His life, intertwined with the supernatural since childhood, is anything but ordinary, filled with interactions with ghosts that have become a part of his daily existence. Operating the studio for 20 years, Ki Joo has become adept at managing the spectral, though it comes at the cost of constant insomnia and anxiety due to unexpected disturbances and attacks. The only respite for Ki Joo, a sanctuary from his haunted life, is within the walls of a chapel, a space untouched by ghostly presences where he can finally rest.

Ki Joo’s life is complicated not only by the responsibility of photographing the dead but also by a curse that threatens to cut his life short before the age of 35. Then enter Han Bom, a passionate lawyer with extraordinary abilities, portrayed by Kwon Na Ra, whose involvement in Ki Joo’s life hints at a possible shift in his cursed fate.

The production team excitedly shares, “Expect a mesmerizing transformation in Joo Won’s performance, returning to the screen after a year to tackle a character shrouded in mystery. We’re confident his portrayal of a photographer who caters to those wishing to ‘die well’ and attentively listens to their tales will resonate deeply with viewers. We eagerly invite everyone to join us in the upcoming opening of ‘Midnight Photo Studio,’ just a month away.”

Meanwhile, the Genie TV original Midnight Photo Studio is set to premiere on March 11th at 10 PM KST on Genie TV, Genie TV mobile, and ENA.
