Netflix has officially announced the global release of its new drama When Life Gives You Tangerines (working title), set to be available in over 190 countries.
When Life Gives You Tangerines captures the adventurous life of Ae Soon, a rebellious spirit born in Jeju, and Gwan Sik, a man of unwavering loyalty. The Korean title of the series (폭싹 속았수다) is a Jeju Island dialect meaning “Good work.”
The drama stars IU as Ae Soon, born and raised in Jeju, who stands up against her predetermined fate. IU, known for her versatile acting, reunites with producer Kim Won Seok, marking their second collaboration since the critically acclaimed My Mister. Park Bo Gum plays Gwan Sik, a strong-willed man of few words, embodying a steadfast and devoted personality. Gwan Sik, known for his sincerity, has harbored an unwavering, silent affection for Ae Soon since childhood.
Veteran actors Moon So Ri and Park Hae Joon join the cast, portraying the older versions of Ae Soon and Gwan Sik, respectively. Their addition is set to bring depth and complexity to the later stages of the characters’ lives.
Meanwhile, When Life Gives You Tangerines is the result of a collaboration between producer Kim Won Seok, known for his work on Misaeng, Signal, and My Mister, and writer Im Sang Choon, famed for When the Camellia Blooms.
