The second episode of JTBC’s Welcome to Samdalri had an unexpected reunion between Jo Yong Pil (played by Ji Chang Wook) and Jo Sam Dal (Shin Hye Sun) after eight years.

Sam Dal returned to her hometown with her brother and sister after being accused of bullying her assistant at work. She hoped to keep a low profile during her visit, but she couldn’t escape her ex-boyfriend’s watch, as he happened to be living right across the street.

In a classic sitcom twist, Sam Dal heard someone entering her house while she was home alone and, trying to avoid any confrontation, she retreated to her room. Little did she know, this would lead Yong Pil to mistake her for a burglar.

After a heated argument, the two finally had a chance to see each other’s faces. Despite expressing happiness at the reunion, Yong Pil couldn’t ignore the notorious controversy surrounding Sam Dal. Wang Kyung Tae (Lee Jae Won) and Cha Eun Woo (Bae Myung Jin) appeared to offer assistance, but Yong Pil sent them back home before they got a sight of her. Assuring Sam Dal, he said, “Don’t worry, you look fine.”

Later that night, the two crossed paths again. Sam Dal stood near the seawall but lost her footing, prompting Yong Pil to appear just in time to save her. In an unexpected turn, he ended up in the sea himself. Remembering how he had drowned in the past, Sam Dal jumped into the water to rescue him.
