The winners of the 18th Seoul International Drama Awards 2023 have been announced.
In the international competition category, the award for Best TV Movie went to the UK’s Mayflies, a touching story about a man with a terminal illness sharing his final moments with his friend, and Belascoarán PI, an offbeat Mexican crime mystery series based on Belascoarán’s adventures. China’s The Long Season, a mystery involving characters searching for truth across time and space, and Reborn Rich, a fantasy drama about a loyal employee being reborn and seeking revenge on the conglomerate family responsible for his death, won the award for Best Miniseries. In the Best Series category, Liu Yifei’s Meet Yourself and the Greek series Act Like You’re Asleep clinched the honors.
The Best Director award in the same category went to French filmmaker Stéphanie Murat for The Fragile Colossus, and the Best Screenwriter award was shared by Nima Javidi for the Iranian series The Actor, which delves into the lives of struggling actors, and Aude Marcle for The Fragile Colossus. The French drama series secured a double win, bagging both the Best Director and Best Screenwriter awards. In the Best Actress category, Suzy, who brilliantly portrayed Yumi in Anna, shared the award with Norwegian actress Nina Ellen Ødegård. Wei Fan took home the Best Actor award for his exceptional performance in Chinese drama series The Long Season,
The winners in the Korean Drama Competition category have also been revealed. The Best Program award went to The Glory and Extraordinary Attorney Woo, both of which have received immense love from fans worldwide. Lee Sung Min, who portrayed Chairman Jin Yang Chul of Sunyang group in Reborn Rich, received the Outstanding Actor award. The Outstanding Korean Drama O.S.T award went to Kim Ho Jung, the singer of “Meet Him Among Them,” the song from KBS’s Three Bold Siblings.
In the International Invitation category, Norwegian series Cammo was honored with a Special Prize. The series tells the story of a famous Norwegian influencer who works as a personal assistant for a girl with Down syndrome.
The Grand Prize in the International Competition category and the Golden Bird Prize in International Invitation category will be announced at the actual awards ceremony.
The Seoul International Drama Awards 2023 ceremony will be held at KBS Hall on Thursday, September 21st, at 6:00 PM KST.
